We provide memory, puzzle, crossword, and large print books to local senior citizens in financial need.
We collaborate with Senior Services Mobile Meals program to deliver the puzzle books with the help of their Rotary, Kiwanis and Optimist volunteers.
WHY READING IS IMPORTANT FOR THE ELDERLY:
- Increases brain activity by creating a mental workout
- Slows cognitive decline
- Decreases levels of beta-amyloid (protein) linked to Alzheimers
- Boosts communication skills
- Reduces stress levels
